Comprehensive first aid training designed to provide delegates with the skills and confidence to deal with a range of workplace first aid emergencies in line with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Course Aim
To equip delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively to first aid situations in the workplace.

Designated workplace first aiders or those seeking to become a qualified First Aider.
Upon completion, delegates will be able to confidently manage real-life situations with the ability to assess, prioritise and treat a wide variety of injuries and medical conditions in accordance with current best practices and legislation.
Learning Outcomes
- Develop a clear understanding of workplace first aid legislation, including the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, employer responsibilities, and record-keeping requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely assess incidents, prioritise treatment, and manage casualties effectively in line with current first aid protocols.
- Perform primary and secondary casualty assessments, including checking for responsiveness, breathing, and vital signs.
- Administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on adults, children, and infants, and demonstrate safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Recognise and respond to a range of injuries and medical conditions, including but not limited to: Severe bleeding and shock, Burns and scalds, Bone, muscle, and joint injuries (including fractures, sprains, and strains), Head and spinal injuries, Chest injuries, Eye injuries, Embedded objects and wound care.
- Identify signs and provide initial management for a variety of medical emergencies such as: Heart attacks and angina, Strokes, Epileptic seizures, Asthma attacks, Diabetic emergencies, Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions), Poisoning incidents.
- Safely manage casualties suffering from environmental injuries such as hypothermia, heat exhaustion, or burns caused by extreme temperatures or chemicals.
- Demonstrate safe handling of unconscious casualties, including placing them in the recovery position and monitoring vital signs until emergency services arrive.
- Understand the importance of infection control measures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a safe environment for both the first aider and casualty.
- Carry out effective communication and casualty care, providing reassurance and clear instructions in high-pressure situations.
