Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAMS) – £50.00pp

This practical course is designed to give delegates a clear understanding of how to prepare effective, legally compliant Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) that support safe working practices. The course covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of hazard identification, risk evaluation, and the development of clear, task-specific method statements.

Delegates will gain the skills to assess risk across a range of tasks and environments, develop structured RAMS documents, and ensure that safety planning is integrated into day-to-day operations.


Course Aim

To equip delegates with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to produce suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements in compliance with UK health and safety legislation, including the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.


Who Should Attend?

This course is ideal for supervisors, managers, team leaders, health and safety representatives, and anyone responsible for preparing or reviewing RAMS within their Organisation.

  

Learning Outcomes

 

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  

  • Understand the legal framework and employer duties relating to risk assessments and method statements.
  • Explain the purpose and importance of RAMS in maintaining a safe working environment and reducing the risk of harm.
  • Follow the five-step process of conducting a risk assessment
  • Recognise different types of workplace hazards (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, etc.) and assess their impact.
  • Develop clear, task-specific method statements that detail how a job will be carried out safely, including:
  • Sequence of tasks.
  • Required controls and PPE.
  • Supervision and competency checks.
  • Emergency arrangements.
  • Understand how to communicate RAMS effectively to workers and ensure understanding.
  • Identify when RAMS need to be reviewed (e.g., after an incident, significant changes to work, or new equipment being introduced).
  • Apply proportionate and practical risk control measures using the hierarchy of control.

Half Day or 1 Day (dependent on course depth)


Certification

Successful candidates receive a certificate, valid for three years
