This Fire Marshal training course equips delegates with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to support fire safety in the workplace. It focuses on fire prevention, emergency procedures, and the specific responsibilities of fire wardens/marshals under UK fire safety legislation.

Delegates will learn how to identify fire hazards, implement preventative measures, and take charge in an emergency situation to ensure a safe and effective evacuation. The training includes the safe use of fire extinguishers and reinforces the importance of maintaining a fire-safe environment.

Course Aim

To provide delegates with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to carry out the duties of a Fire Marshal effectively, supporting both fire prevention and emergency response in compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for any employee who has been, or will be, designated as a Fire Marshal or Fire Warden within their workplace. It is also beneficial for managers or supervisors responsible for fire safety arrangements.

  

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of fire safety and the fire triangle (heat, fuel, oxygen).
  • Identify common fire hazards in the workplace and implement effective fire prevention measures.
  • Recognise the causes and consequences of workplace fires and understand how to reduce the risk of ignition and spread.
  • Understand the duties and legal responsibilities of employers and employees under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Understand the role of the Fire Marshal/Warden, including routine fire safety checks, record keeping, and supporting fire drills.
  • Know how to raise the alarm and initiate appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Take control in an evacuation situation, including:
  • Ensuring clear evacuation routes.
  • Assisting others to safety.
  • Conducting roll calls and accounting for personnel.
  • Understand the different classes of fire and the appropriate types of fire extinguishers to use for each.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of how to safely operate a fire extinguisher (theory-based).
  • Promote a fire safety culture within the workplace through hazard reporting and staff awareness.

Certification: Successful candidates receive a certificate, valid for three years
