Caroline is passionate about doing HR properly by meeting people where they are, rather than relying on one-size-fits-all policies. Being dyslexic and dyspraxic has shaped her perspective, making her a more creative problem-solver and an empathetic listener. She describes herself as an "introverted extrovert" who is guided by an active, honest kindness in her work.
What do you enjoy most about working at arlo?
The people and the purpose. I care deeply about helping businesses build places where people can do their best work and being part of a team that shares that mindset makes it a genuine pleasure. There’s real ambition here, but also a commitment to doing things the right way. That combination is rarer than it should be.
What are you most passionate about, either in or outside of work?
Doing HR properly. And by that, I mean actually meeting people where they are, not arriving with a policy in hand and a one-size-fits-all answer. Every person is different. Every business is different. My job is to understand what’s actually going on and find the right solution for that person, that business, and that moment.
I’m also dyslexic and dyspraxic, and that shapes how I see things. I know what it feels like to have to work harder to be understood, and it’s made me a better listener, a more creative problem-solver, and someone who genuinely cares about building workplaces where people don’t have to mask who they are to succeed.
Outside of work, I’m a wife, mum, and slightly obsessed dog owner. My family, dogs and close friends are the most important things to me, I will always do anything to help and protect them, they keep me grounded, sane and laughing and being with them is a constant reminder of what is truly important in life.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I’m an introverted extrovert. I spend my days having real conversations with real people about things that genuinely matter to them, and I love it. But I recharge in the quiet. A bit of time with my family, my dogs, or just a cup of tea and some peace goes a long way.
What’s one value that guides how you work with clients and colleagues?
Kindness. But not the passive kind.
The kind that means being honest when it’s uncomfortable and having the difficult conversations that need to happen. Doing right by people is just who I am, and helping my clients do the same is at the heart of everything I do. I’m not the HR police. I’m someone who genuinely wants to help, and I’ll always bring my whole self to that.
