This one-day CITB SSSTS Refresher course updates the knowledge of existing construction site supervisors and reinforces their responsibilities for health, safety, welfare and environmental management.
The course covers current legislation, industry guidance and supervisory best practice, helping delegates continue to manage and monitor work safely.
Course Aim
To refresh delegates’ understanding of their supervisory responsibilities and update their knowledge of current construction health and safety legislation, guidance and accepted working practices.
Who Should Attend?
This course is intended for delegates who hold a valid CITB SSSTS or SSSTS Refresher certificate and need to renew it before its expiry date.
The refresher must be completed before the existing certificate expires. Otherwise, the delegate will normally need to complete the full two-day SSSTS course again.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand current health and safety legislation affecting construction work.
- Explain the responsibilities of supervisors and managers.
- Recognise the importance of effective site supervision.
- Review and communicate risk assessments and method statements.
- Deliver effective site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Monitor work activities and identify unsafe behaviour or conditions.
- Intervene promptly when poor practice is identified.
- Understand occupational health, welfare and environmental responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with workers, managers and contractors.
- Promote positive behaviour and a strong health and safety culture.
Duration: One day
Assessment: Delegates are assessed throughout the course and must complete a final examination. Full attendance is required.
Certification: Successful delegates will receive a renewed CITB Site Safety Plus SSSTS certificate, valid for a further five years.
